Generation Arts

Generation Arts provides an inclusive programme of arts activities provided by professional artists from creative movement and dance, visual arts to music projects, and remote cinema screenings.

Generation Arts provides an inclusive programme of arts activities provided by professional artists from creative movement and dance, visual arts to music projects, and remote cinema screenings. Our projects are free to participate in and we deliver our projects in a range of community contexts from; community centres, to hospitals, day centres and mental health hubs.

Our projects are inclusive and targeted at people with dementia, Parkinsons, those with mental health issues, disabilities, those who are poverty experienced and/or lonely. We work with other third sector charities, NHS Lothian and elder care providers to reach out to adults who are at threat of isolation, loneliness and poor physical and mental health.

10 projects were delivered from March 2024 to March 2025, with a total number of attendees of 5,976.

Targets achieved:

  • 100% of participants have increased their confidence by participating in the project
  • 100% of participants note an improvement in feelings of positivity by participating in the project.
  • 98% of participants note improvements in physical and mental health by participating in the project.
  • 98% of participants note that they have developed their skills by participating in the project.
  • 100% of participants note this project has been an opportunity to make friends and feel less isolated by participating in the project.

The dates and timings for our June programme are as follows: 

  • Monday 15th June - 10:30am - 12:00pm:  ‘Move for your Mind’, a gentle dance project for adults with neurological diseases at Craigsfarm Community Hub.
  • Wednesday 17th June - 07:00 - 8.30pm: ‘NHS Choir’ for current and ex NHS staff. A fun singing class for adults at Craigsfarm Community Hub.
  • Thursdays 18th June - 10:30 - 11:30am: A fun and energetic dance class for adults, suitable for all abilities.
  • Friday 19th June 10:30 - 11:30am: a gentle seated dance and movement class for those with limited mobility at Rosemount Gardens.
